WebP to JPG

Convert a WebP image to JPEG and flatten transparency onto a background color you choose.

WebP to JPG workspace

How to use it

Choose a WebP file, pick the background color, and Create file. Download saves a JPEG. The background is drawn before the image so semi-transparent pixels blend onto that color.

Example

The status states that transparent pixels were flattened. JPEG cannot store them.

Input

logo.webp with a transparent background, background #ffffff

Result

logo.jpg with the transparent pixels painted white.

How it works

The canvas is filled with the color you picked, then the WebP is drawn on top and encoded as JPEG at quality 0.92. The output type is image/jpeg. A file that is not WebP is refused.

Common errors

  • The edges look colored Those pixels were partly transparent and blended into the background. Pick a background closer to the surrounding color.
  • A JPEG was selected This page accepts WebP. Use JPG to WebP for the opposite direction.
  • The browser could not read the file The WebP may be animated or damaged. This tool uses the frame the browser decodes.

Limitations

Animated WebP is not preserved as animation. Color profiles are not copied as a separate workflow. The 15 MB and 8000 pixel limits apply. The file stays on this device.

Privacy

The file stays in your browser. PepsTools does not upload it, store it, or send it to another service. Clear the tool or leave the page to drop it from memory.

Questions

Where does transparency go?

Onto the background color in the form. JPEG has no alpha channel, and the page says that before you download.
