Unlock PDF

Remove open-password encryption from a PDF when you already know the password.

Only unlock files you are allowed to open. Wrong passwords are refused. No brute force is attempted.

How to use it

Choose an encrypted PDF, enter the password you are authorized to use, then Process PDF. The download is saved without encryption when the library can decrypt it.

How it works

Cantoo pdf-lib loads the file with your password and saves a new unencrypted document. If the result still looks encrypted, the format is reported as unsupported instead of claiming success.

Common errors

  • The password is wrong Re-enter it. Repeated guesses are not automated.
  • The PDF was not encrypted There is nothing to unlock.
  • The format is not supported Some unusual encryption revisions cannot be rewritten here.

Limitations

Only use this on files you may open. Owner-only restriction quirks without a user password may still need another tool. Files over 15 MB are refused.

Privacy

The file stays in your browser. PepsTools does not upload it, store it, or send it to another service. Clear the tool or leave the page to drop it from memory.
