Time Zone Converter

Convert a local date and time from one IANA time zone to another without calling a weather or map API.

Time Zone Converter workspace

How to use

Enter a local date-time, choose From and To zones, Convert, and read both ISO strings plus the hour offset between them.

Example

Daylight saving rules follow the IANA database built into the runtime. Invalid zone names are refused.

Input

2024-03-10 09:30 America/New_York to Europe/Paris

Output

The same instant shown in Paris with the offset difference in hours

How it works

DateTimeZone interprets the wall time in the source zone, then formats the same instant in the target zone. Ambiguous or non-existent local times around DST transitions are rejected when the runtime cannot represent them.

Common errors

  • An unknown zone was refused Use an IANA name such as Europe/Berlin or America/Chicago.
  • The local time does not exist That clock time may fall in a DST spring-forward gap. Pick a valid wall time.
  • You needed city search Type the IANA zone id directly; there is no geolocation lookup.

Limitations

Historical zone rule changes depend on the PHP/ICU data on the server for any server-side check; the browser tool uses the engine available in the tab. Recurring meeting planners are out of scope.

Privacy

The text you paste is processed in your browser. PepsTools does not receive it, store it, or send it to another service.

Questions

Does conversion fetch the current offset from a web API?

No. It uses the local IANA time zone database.
