How to use it
Paste text and choose Encode or Decode. Encoding escapes every character that is not an unreserved URL character. Decoding rejects a percent sign that is not followed by two hex digits.
Example
The slash and space are encoded. The space becomes %20, not a plus sign.
Input
a/b c
Result
a%2Fb%20c
How it works
Encode follows rawurlencode: letters, digits, and - _ . ~ stay as they are. Spaces become %20. Decode reverses percent-escapes and requires valid UTF-8.
Common errors
- A plus sign stayed a plus This tool does not treat + as a space. That convention belongs to HTML forms, not to RFC 3986 components.
- An incomplete % appeared Add the two hex digits or remove the percent sign.
Limitations
The tool encodes one component. It does not rewrite a full URL while preserving its structure, because that choice is easy to get wrong.
Privacy
The text you paste is processed in your browser. PepsTools does not receive it, store it, or send it to another service.
Questions
Will a query string be parsed into fields?
No. The box is encoded or decoded as one piece of text.
